Creation of Man

In my article last week I discussed as an introduction to my column the principle(s) of scriptural truth. This week I would like to consider the truth of man. Man is a complex being, unique in his very make up from the creator Himself. In Genesis 1:26-27 we have recorded for us the creation of man. Notice with me these verses, God said in verse 26 “Let us make man in our image” and in verse 27 “so God created man in His own image.” When God created man, He made him unique and unlike any other living thing He had created, for man had been given a soul and immortality. Man had been given the ability to reason and think thus separating him from all other creatures. This uniqueness became the downfall of man for with it the conscious choice to disobey God was made by partaking of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden. This choice of disobedience would separate humanity from God from that point forward. Sin had entered into the world and sin is enmity with God. In Romans 6:23 the scripture states” the wages of sin is death,” this death is both physical and spiritual. In the book of James chapter 2 verse 26 we read that the spirit of man is the very life of man “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” Man has a soul and it is the soul that will spend eternity in Heaven or Hell. The soul will have a welcomed rest and peace or a torment unlike anything which can be imagined. The question we all must ask ourselves is where will my soul spend eternity? Until next week to God be the glory, this is the Scriptural Truth.
