The Approaching Day

We are about to enter into another month, and for many folks, the 29th of August will be a special day. In just 31 short days, College Football kicks off and the rivalries will begin. There will be vehicles flying their team’s colors and people parading around in their team’s attire. It is a wonderful time of the year and yes I will be supporting my team wearing the orange and white for the TN. Vols (sorry Dawg fans).  As we consider the opening day of football, I would like to pose a question.  How many people would be as excited or more excited if they knew when the day of the Lord’s return would be?  How excited would people get and to what measures would they go to show their support?  In  John 14, verses 1-4, Christ states he has gone to prepare a home/mansion for us and he will come again to receive His own to himself to live with Him in Heaven for eternity.  Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people. In other words, for those who are “true fans” of His. Notice Titus 4:8,  “Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Another question for consideration is how does one prepare for this great and wonderful day? How does one get ready to celebrate for eternity? The scriptures state in  Tit 2:11-13,  “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;  Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” In order to be ready for that great day we must live our lives in similar fashion to those college athletes playing ball on Saturdays. These athletes train, work out, and devote themselves to a life focused around the game of football. For Heaven to be our home, we must be in preparation during our lives on this earth. In the previous scripture found in Titus, it states we must deny ungodliness and worldly lusts along with living soberly, righteously and godly lives. You see, my friends, this is our preparation time for the big day that we will participate in. Everyone will receive a reward of either Heaven or Hell . The question is which one are you preparing for? Which team are you supporting? There are only two team’s – Team “Christ and Heaven” or Team” Satan and Hell”.  I hope you are on the Lord’s side and His team. Well, that will wrap up this article but I will follow up with another article related to football next week. So until then, this is the Scriptural Truth.
