Snowfall and Eternity

As I am writing this article there is a growing anticipation for many in the South East. The weatherman said the “S” word, not just once, but several times. Yes, I am referring to SNOW. It is hard to believe how excited so many of us get when we hear snow in the forecast. Now mind you, not all mentions of snow stimulate so many but when the word accumulation is thrown in the mix it changes everything. The stores become packed with people buying supplies preparing for this wondrous event. What motivates people to prepare is the anticipation of something to occur as stated by the weatherman. From a spiritual standpoint there is a greater event than a snowfall that will take place. It has been “forecasted” and preparation is essential. I am referring to the Lord’s return, when time will cease to exist and be no more. Our fate, our eternal destiny, will be sealed by the preparation we have made.  Notice the scripture in 2Pe 3:10-11  “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness.” This day will take place, without doubt and the warning is given that preparation is needed. My question is how much preparation are you making for the Lord’s return? When He comes there will be no second chances, contrary to the belief of some. There will be no opportunity to prepare as some do after the first snowflake falls and they suddenly believe. No, when time is over, it is over and there is no time to prepare. NOW is the time of preparation. NOW is the time to ensure your salvation, repenting of your sins (Lk 13:3). NOW is the time to be washed free from your sins by the blood of Christ through baptism (Acts 2:28, Mark 16:16). NOW is the time to live your life in service to the Lord (Rev.2:10). My friends make preparation today for your eternal destiny. A snow only lasts a short time but eternity is everlasting. Until next week this is the Scriptural Truth.
