The Work of Christ

The work and purpose Christ on this earth is often times limited to just salvation. Certainly salvation is the key element of his work but there is so much more. The full understanding of his work is essential for one to fully make confession of him as being the son of the living God. For this article please allow me to give you a brief, to the point outline of his work and purpose. My prayer is you will come to a greater appreciation of Christ and what he accomplished while on earth and how great a blessing it is to be called a Christian and a child of God. 1- To fulfil the law and prophets Matthew 5:17. The old law was designed to teach of God, lead people to the forthcoming Christ and expose sin for what it was. 2- To Teach Matthew 11:1. Christ led his apostles by example in teaching. The commission given to them was to go and teach continuing what Christ had begun. The teachings of Christ were to aid in signifying his authority and proclaim his deity. 3- To heal and forgive men of their physical and spiritual needs John 20:30-31, Luke 14:8. Christ did these signs and wonders because of his love for all and to again give sign of his deity and power. 4- To seek and save the lost Luke 19:10. Christ was and is the salvation of man. He came to give life abundantly. 5- To redeem a lost people Titus 2:11-15. His purpose was to purchase us back from the sin which separates one from God. The price to be paid was his blood shed on the cross of Calvary. 6- To save us from sin John 3:16. He paved the way to heaven with his death, burial and resurrection. His blood shows us the way to the Father. 7- To set or leave us an example to follow 1Peter 2:21. He left the example for us to follow in his steps. When we follow in his steps we will certainly find our way home which he has gone to prepare John14. Certainly this is a brief run down, but consider the work he has put in so you can have a home eternal. Until next week this is the Scriptural Truth. Tommy O’Kelley Minister Subligna Rd.
