Scriptural Truth – Political or Spiritual

Today we live in a world which continuously screams the words “political correctness.” These words ring loud and clear as they plague us in our homes, schools and jobs. The term political correctness or politically correct is not just about race, sex or expression but it also includes the actions of someone. A question I would pose for consideration is “should political correctness be used as our only guideline?” According to the scriptures absolutely not! I would like to consider the words found in Matthew 6:33 “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness…” To be “politically correct” most often times means being “spiritually incorrect.” To seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness means to place it ahead of our own thoughts of “political correctness.” Let me give you an example from the Old Testament found in 2 Samuel 6 verses 6 & 7 “And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.(KJV)” Perhaps the initial thoughts concerning this event would be in regards to Uzzah. He simply tried to do the “politically correct” thing by steadying the Ark. The death of Uzzah was the result of disobedience to the way God had instructed the Ark to be carried, by Levites on their shoulders with the staves(poles) that were provided on the Ark. (1 Chronicles 15:15). The “political correctness” of man came before the “spiritual correctness” of God and Uzzah died. If we want to truly prosper and receive the bountiful blessings of God we must Seek His Righteousness First (Proverbs 14:34). When the Lord returns and time is no more the only thing that will matter is not how “politically correct” we were in this life but rather how “spiritually correct” we were. Before offering support for something such as our vote for president or worship to God, let us consider the matter to ensure it does not go against the will and ways of God as He has instructed. The end of Uzzah will be our eternal end spiritually if we do not “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness.” Until next week this is the Scriptural Truth Tommy O’Kelley Minister Subligna Rd.
