Scriptural Truth – A Place of Peace
To those who read my articles each week I Thank You for your support. I have not had an article in the paper for the past couple of weeks because I took some time off to be with my family and regroup. Yes, even preachers need some time to themselves and with their families. We as a nation and individuals have certainly been under the bombardment of troubles and life’s difficulties over the past few weeks.. I had to stop and remind myself that God is still in control.. In the scriptures we find that Christ wept over Jerusalem in Luke 19:41. It was the fact that the things “that make for peace” were “hidden from your eyes.” Sin always destroys peace. God hates to see his children or his creation without peace! Seek righteousness and peace by drawing near to God. Our battle isn’t flesh and blood, but Satan (Ephesians 6:12).If we were to look at peace from Philippians 4 we would find the following…
Verse 4: Rejoice in the Lord–find joy in the fact that with Him we will ALL heal and be used for His glory!
Verse 6: Don’t be Anxious, instead pray! And while you are praying make sure you spend time giving thanks.
Verse 7: Let the Peace of God guard your hearts. A righteous life has peace that cannot be fully expressed in words! This is because we are forgiven and find our righteousness through Him!
Verse 8: Think on things that are True, Noble, Just, Pure, Lovely, Good Report… meditate on them. You can’t dwell on the negative and be what God wants you to be!
Verse 9: Do the things listed above “and the God of peace will be with you.”
In Summary: Today: Rejoice in God. When you feel anxious pray. Think on God and His attributes. You and I can’t control or fix all problems, but we can rely upon the One Who can!
We may feel like we are walking through a terrible storm. But let us never forget we serve the One who “said to the sea, ‘Peace, be still!’ And the wind ceased and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39). Although hundreds of years have passed, He still is the One who brings calmness. He is still our only answer … The God of Peace!
