The Church

In Matthew 16:18, Christ promised to build one church. It is the church He purchased with His blood (Acts 20:28). This same church is the one where individuals repented, were baptized for the remission of sins and were added to on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:38ff). They were not added to any denomination that man established but the church that Christ established.

The Church at Subligna Road is part of that wonderful body of believers (Romans 16:16), and this is the only church we claim to be a member of, whether it be in Summerville, GA or any other part of the world where the Lord’s people gather.

When people think of “church”, many times the term is very loose in meaning, but consider the following scriptures concerning the Church Christ established.

It is not the building that is the church but those who have been saved. “Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” Mark 16:16 sates, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved” (Acts 2:47).

The Church is the body of Christ and Christ is head of it, not any man made organization. “And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence” (Colossians 1:18).

Throughout the world you can find the Lord’s Church; congregations of like precious faith all part of the one body. “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another” (Romans 12:4-5).

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matt 16:18).

The church our Lord established is not a denomination among many. It is His church bought with His blood.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM WORSHIP
When you visit Subligna Road, this is what you can expect to see during worship:
PRAYER
We always offer up prayers to God for supplication and to show thanks (Philippians 4:6) as well as going to God on behalf of our brethren (James 5:16). Prayer is a vital part of our worship.
SINGING
When you worship with us at Subligna Road, you can always expect to participate in singing praises to God. We sing A Capella, without instrumental accompaniment, as the first century disciples did, and as we are commanded to in Colossians 3:16.
PREACHING
At Subligna Road, you can expect to hear scriptural teaching from the pulpit at every worship service. The men who preach from the pulpit always do so from the Scriptures.
THE LORD’S SUPPER
Every Sunday, we come together to participate together in the Lord’s Supper, just like the first century church (Acts 20:7). We do this to remember the Lord’s death until He comes again (1 Corinthians 11:26).
GIVING
Another part of worship we participate in every Lord’s Day is the laying aside of goods for the work of the Lord. This offering is on an individual basis, and as each individual has prospered (1 Corinthians 16:2).
